Guerande is a Compagnie Royale Settlement, which is located in Bloody Channel along the Red Isles. To get there sail south from Sainte-Anne towards Compagnie Royale territory to reach the settlement.
Guerande is one of the lowest level settlements in the game as well as one of the closest to Sainte Anne and is likely being one of the first that a low level pirate will plunder on their own. The settlement itself reflects this as it appears to be a small village or plantation consisting of only a handful of buildings. With no defensive Guard Towers to protect itself, potential plunders only need to worry about ships guarding the settlement.
Guerande is part of the Fall of Lanitra investigation, where the settlement needs to be plundered to search the governor's residence for any suspicious documents or items linked to a traitor. It is also part of the Ashen Corsair investigation as the cursed ship of the same name was last seen at the settlement.
The Ashen Corsair[]
“ | I left France to follow my husband to build a new merchant port for the Compagnie. Nothing but misfortune in Guérande. Pirates. Every. Day. This morning a black warship fired over and over and over. They sunk so many ships. The sea flooded with cargo and silver - my silver! They sailed right up to loot my beautiful town. So close I could see their eyes. "More! More! She said it's not enough!" Who? Why was that Captain yelling at me? He couldn't fit all the silver onboard so he started throwing out wine and meat. Some crew tried to hold him back, said something about their voyage north? Not enough provisions to make it to the Western Basin? I couldn't hear because that Captain screamed and shot the man who argued back! His body fell right in front of me. The other crew cheered! Camille, please I cannot take this anymore. This world is filled with madmen. First, my husband, and now this 'Captain of the Ashen Corsair'. Please send a ship and take me far away from here. |

Entry #1[]
“ | 5 February, 1689 My Dear Ranavalona, We bring more goods and gifts to Guerande next month. Your father seemed to tolerate our presence once he sampled some of our fine French brandy. And just for you, I am bringing one of the brightest and most brilliant diamonds we’ve mined off the Coast of Africa. It is almost as dazzling as your eyes, which I remember well. Soon, we shall gift your people other wares, like advanced tools and weaponry, to assist your fight against the Sea People. Maybe we’ll even show you how to build our stone forts that tower over the tallest trees of your land. My people will show you how to make the most of the resources you have. I, for one, am glad to lead this trade delegation once more. If I did not, I would not have met you. Your people are strong and proud, but there is still so much we can show you about this world.
